Highlights from the 2022-2023 school year!
As you saw in our year in review, 2022-2023 was an eventful year! Returning to campus brought new opportunity to our events, services and spaces. To celebrate this, we publish monthly recaps to keep our community updated on all the amazing work the SSU and your student leaders are doing to enhance the student experience at Sheridan College.
Here is a look at some of our monthly updates from the 2022-2023 academic year:
SSU joined CASA (Canadian Alliance of Student Associations) and attended 4 policy sessions to help strengthen our own policies, and to help direct the national advocacy work to be done for the rest of the year.
Your VPs hosted the Sexual Health and Violence Supports Committee’s (SHAVS) first Pop-up event on 'Healthy Masculinity' at the HMC campus.
We proudly opened Station Kitchen in our brand new Student Centre at HMC!
As part of our ongoing commitment to students’ health, the Sheridan Student Union has committed to funding IUDs and female condoms that students can access at Sheridan’s Health Centres.
Proud to announce our new partnership with joni, a B.C.-based company that makes sustainable and affordable pads, now available at each Sheridan campus!
SSU Food Services Catering at HMC Campus has seen great growth in the month of March. We’re proud to offer community favourites at each campus.
SSU made $1,200 in donations to Red Cross relief efforts to support the families affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.
Our Perks Fair was a success! We had 12 community partners attend and many students loved engaging with them, getting freebies, like free pizza!
Our SSU Clubs hosted 23 individual events, get togethers and workshops throughout the month from poetry nights to valentines day events and everything in between.
We facilitated the last set of Paragon Tax Clinic sessions to support students who were looking for support filing their taxes with accessible help on campus.
We welcomed a new club in April, Music Theatre Student Alliance and a new prospective club became active, Chess Club!
We hosted another successful annual Sheridan Life Gala with over 700 attendees!
