A Message from the President

“As I reflect on the past year, I’m inspired by the ways our community continues to grow, adapt, and lead with purpose. Having been a student at Sheridan just last year, I’ve experienced firsthand how meaningful support and services can be to the student experience.  

Last year, as I sat at an AGM just like this one, learning all about the impact the Sheridan Student Union has made, I wondered, “What was on the other side of these numbers?”. This year, I have the honour of understanding how these changes take place behind the scenes.  

At first glance, you may notice highlights moments like in 2024-2025 we joined Ontario Student Voice (OSV), which helped us expand our provincial advocacy efforts and create opportunities for student-led policy influence across Ontario. Or maybe you’ve watched as the Student Executive roles have evolved over the years, and this year, we proudly introduced the Student Executive of EDI.  Or maybe you heard about the SSU when you enjoyed a cultural celebration, participated in a creative contest, or danced the night away at an event. 

From expanding leadership opportunities and bringing campus events to life, to improving spaces and enhancing student wellness, we’ve continued to move forward together. Every initiative, big or small, was shaped by the ideas Sheridan students. Collaboration keeps us evolving in step with the needs of our community.  

This year wasn’t just about progress, it was about the people behind the impact. It’s about the students who took action, the staff who supported them, and a community that continues to believe in what’s possible when we move as one.  
 
As we look ahead, I’m proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for where we’re going. Our year in motion is only the beginning and together, we’ll keep building a future where every student can thrive.”

A Message from the Board of Directors

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am proud to celebrate the impact Sheridan Student Union has made across our campuses during the 2024–2025 year. We have continued to build on more than 50 years of student leadership, advocacy and student supports. From creating opportunities for connection and celebration to ensuring access to essential services and supports, our mission remains the same: to enhance your Sheridan Life. 

Across Canada, as students are navigating rising living costs, financial pressures, evolving academic realities due to policy changes, the importance of student-led initiatives are more important than ever. These challenges reinforce the importance of our work, ensuring that Sheridan students, regardless of background, feels supported, represented, and equipped to succeed.

As a board member, it’s been inspiring to translate student experiences into meaningful action, empower student leadership, enhance campus environment, and expand initiatives that promote inclusion and belonging. Each milestone reflects the ongoing dedication of our staff, student leaders, and community partners —all moving together toward a common goal: ensuring that every student has the support, opportunity, and connection they need to thrive. 

In a time when college life continues to evolve, it’s the voices and leadership of students that guide us forward. The ideas and advocacy efforts, and energy remind us that ongoing progress comes when we listen, adapt, and move together toward meaningful change.
