A Message from the President

“As I reflect on 2025–2026, I think about the people behind our impact: the student who found their community through a club, accessed support when finances were tight, or felt heard after sharing a concern. Having been a Sheridan student myself, I know how much these moments can shape the college experience. 

This year, we brought student voices to all levels of government, meeting with city councillors, MPPs, MPs, and senators. With support from Ontario Student Voices, more than 700 student signatures raising concerns about OSAP changes were presented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. These efforts reflected our commitment to ensuring students’ experiences inform the decisions that directly affect them. 

Across our campuses, that commitment also took practical forms. Free breakfasts, grocery support, and newly introduced Farmers Markets all helped ease everyday financial pressures. Our clubs team supported 119 clubs and more than 320 initiatives, creating opportunities for students to connect, lead, and explore their interests. Meanwhile, residence welcome events, family-friendly activities, and wellness programming helped students feel part of the Sheridan community. 

We also celebrated the creativity and diversity that make our campuses special, from the Latin American Art Contest to Ramadan lantern-painting pop-ups. Behind every initiative were staff, student leaders, volunteers, and partners working together to turn SSU student fees into meaningful experiences and support. 

To everyone who shared an idea, raised a concern, attended an event, or helped bring these initiatives to life: thank you. You shaped our work and continue to remind us why it matters. 

As we look ahead, we will continue listening, advocating, and building a community where every student has opportunities to participate and feel supported. I’m proud of what we accomplished together and look forward to what comes next.

A Message from the Board of Directors

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am proud to celebrate the impact Sheridan Student Union has made across our campuses during the 2025–2026 year. We have continued to build on more than 50 years of student leadership, advocacy and student supports. From creating opportunities for connection and celebration to ensuring access to essential services and supports, our mission remains the same: to enhance your Sheridan Life. 

Across Canada, as students are navigating rising living costs, financial pressures, evolving academic realities due to policy changes, the importance of student-led initiatives are more important than ever. These challenges reinforce the importance of our work, ensuring that Sheridan students, regardless of background, feels supported, represented, and equipped to succeed.

As a board member, it’s been inspiring to translate student experiences into meaningful action, empower student leadership, enhance campus environment, and expand initiatives that promote inclusion and belonging. Each milestone reflects the ongoing dedication of our staff, student leaders, and community partners —all moving together toward a common goal: ensuring that every student has the support, opportunity, and connection they need to thrive. 

In a time when college life continues to evolve, it’s the voices and leadership of students that guide us forward. The ideas and advocacy efforts, and energy remind us that ongoing progress comes when we listen, adapt, and move together toward meaningful change.
