Looking ahead —- We are looking to bring together our journey, lessons learned and goals into a new strategic plan that centered providing students with VALUE - and IMPACT in pursuit of Advocacy.
Enchancing Your Sheridan Life: VIA Value, Impact, and Advocacy
Over the last three years, we have celebrated 50 Years of Impact, moving forward together. This year, we are bringing together what we have learned from students to guide our direction forward through our 2026-2031 Strat Plan: Enhancing Your Sheridan Life VIA: Value, Impact and Advocacy. Here are a few things our organization is looking forward to this upcoming year:
supporting student well- being: Events
The SSU Programming & Events department is deepening our focus on student wellness throughout the year. In addition to contributing to SSU’s Wellness Month in January, we will be hosting a variety of wellness events and workshops in the Fall and Winter semesters. The aim is to provide diverse learning opportunities that support all dimensions of student wellness.
evolving club supports & community partnerships
Our Clubs department goals for the upcoming year are to find meaningful ways to working alongside the Sheridan Career Services team to help further improve and provide better CCR opportunities for our clubs.
We also want to work alongside Sheridan College faculties to help provide new academic club with meaningful opportunities to get involved. We are looking to providing support for the students in the many brand new Sheridan programs that have started at the college across all three campuses.
Lastly, we want to continue building upon our Clubs Fair and Clubs Conference initiatives, as well as building improvements to our virtual Clubs Corner software.
expanding our farmers markets
Themed Farmers Markets & Cross-Department Collaboration
We plan to build on the success of our Farmers Market by collaborating with departments such as Promo and Events to introduce themed markets throughout the year. Ideas include a Winter-themed Farmers Market, creating a more engaging experience while continuing to provide students with access to free fresh produce and meaningful food support.
growing awareness of STUDENT Savings & ssu services
3. Student Discounts & Everyday Student Life
HEALTH AND DENTAL
We will be placing a greater focus on our student discounts and showing students how these savings can fit into their everyday lives. Rather than simply promoting individual discounts, we want to connect them to areas students actually spend money on—such as food, entertainment, wellness, and shopping—so students can see the practical financial value of their SSU membership.Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
We are planning a dedicated Services Fair to showcase the full range of programs and services available through our department. The goal is to give students an opportunity to learn about each service in an engaging, accessible way and better understand how the SSU can support them throughout their student experience.
Events Goals
The SSU Events & Programming Department will continue to enhance the first-year student experience through innovative Orientation and Welcome Week programming. Moving forward, the SSU will take a more holistic approach to these initiatives, creating opportunities to connect students with the full range of SSU services, supports, and resources. By engaging students beyond events alone, the SSU aims to strengthen awareness, increase engagement, and foster a greater sense of belonging from the start of their Sheridan journey.
Making Food Accessible in our spaces (Facilities)
- On Campus & Beyond
This year, addressing food insecurity is also a priority of our Executive Team. We look forward to working with our student leaders to bring innovative ideas to life.
We are currently in the process of exploring what SSU Food Services at the SU. We want to continue to find affordable food options for students, including free breakfasts and support to the food first program are a big focus for next year.
